Hello.
I am Song Sang-hoon,
Chief Director of Goldendiamant Plastic Surgery in Gangnam.
For people, the eyes are a crucial feature that determines a first impression.
Many people who are born with
small or constricted-looking eyes
wish for a natural change to a refreshed and clear impression, and worry about it.

As a board-certified plastic surgeon for over 20 years,
I have performed appropriate canthoplasty eye surgeries
and experienced many cases where the direction and balance of the eye shape changed, altering the overall impression.
Canthoplasty eye surgery, tailored to each individual's eye shape,
is not merely a procedure to enlarge the eyes,
but is completed through a ‘precise design’ that considers
the structure of each person's eyes and the harmony of their facial features.

In this article, I will explain
the types of canthoplasty performed at Goldendiamant Plastic Surgery in Gangnam and the changes each surgery can create.
At our Gangnam plastic surgery clinic, after comprehensive analysis through personalized consultation and design,
epicanthoplasty (front canthoplasty)lateral canthoplasty (back canthoplasty)upper canthoplastylower canthoplasty
we perform these four types of canthoplasty
to achieve customized eye shape correction that suits each individual's eyes.

Epicanthoplasty is also known as medial canthoplasty, and it is a plastic surgery procedure that exposes the inner corner of the eye, which is covered by the Mongolian fold, to improve a constricted impression and lengthen the horizontal length of the eye to create a refreshed eye shape.
This surgery is recommended for cases where the inner corner of the eye is covered due to a developed Mongolian fold,
or when the eyes appear far apart.
Excessive excision can make the distance between the eyes too close,
and it is a crucial surgery where a design and suturing method tailored to each individual's eye shape are important
to ensure scars are not noticeable.
Lateral canthoplasty is also known as outer canthoplasty, and it is a plastic surgery procedure that incises the outer corner of the eye to naturally lower the attached outer corner of the eye and extend the horizontal length of the eye, thereby gently improving a strong or constricted impression.
This surgery is recommended for cases where the eyes appear constricted and small due to a short horizontal length,
or when the outer corners of the eyes are upturned, giving a fierce impression.
It is a surgery that requires a surgical technique to prevent adhesion or re-adhesion of the soft tissue at the outer corner of the eye,
and a natural and gentle lateral canthoplasty can only be achieved after understanding each individual's orbital bone structure before proceeding with the incision.

Lower canthoplasty is also known as inferior canthoplasty, and it is a procedure that incises the lower outer part of the eye to increase the exposed area of the lower white of the eye, creating large, round eyes.
This surgery is recommended for cases where the lower eyelid is pulled down, making the scleral show (three-white eyes) prominent,
or when the horizontal length is sufficient but the vertical length is short,
making the eyes appear constricted.
Since this surgery changes the position of the lower eyelid,
it must be performed after the medical staff has a thorough understanding of the skin, muscles, conjunctiva, and supporting ligaments that support the lower eyelid.
Upper canthoplasty is also known as superior canthoplasty, and it is a plastic surgery procedure that extends the upper eye line to clearly improve drooping eyes, refresh sleepy-looking eyes, and correct the entire eye shape.
This surgery is recommended for cases where the outer corners of the eyes are drooping,
or when the skin above the eyes appears constricted and saggy,
resulting in tired, sleepy-looking eyes.
The surgery must be performed with a design that considers the harmony with the eyebrow distance and the double eyelid line,
and the scope of the surgery may vary depending on the excess skin of the upper eyelid.

The four canthoplasty eye surgeries mentioned above
are sometimes performed independently at our Goldendiamant Plastic Surgery clinic,
but they can also be combined as needed after a 1:1 customized design,
allowing for a three-dimensional and balanced
improvement of the eye shape.

Canthoplasty
requires customized design and surgery based on each individual's bone structure, skin elasticity, harmony with facial features, and eye shape direction,
to achieve
natural and definite results without side effects or revision surgery.

At Goldendiamant Plastic Surgery in Gangnam,
